If you don't sign upward within... 30 days I believe... of turning 18, you volition not exist able to apply for fiscal aid nor able to employ for any gov't jobs.
There's also potential legal activity against y'all, including prison and fines, but apparently it isn't enforced.
If you do change your mind, you lot can go here and annals: http://www.sss.gov/

It makes me kind of regret not having been meliorate-informed when I turned 18. That said, at to the lowest degree I'll still get my take a chance to exercise the civil disobedience thing if they ever actually try to draft me.

Indicating on the form that you object or not will non matter on annihilation. What will thing is if you filled in the course or not. Claiming any sort of concientious objector condition only tin happen if at that place is actually a draft and you are chosen up. The odds of getting called up in a draft are extremely small- the draft has not been used since the Vietnam War in the 1970'southward.
Equally for not registering and schools, http://www.finaid.org/students/selectiveservice.phtml
Selective Service Registration
Male students who fail to register with Selective Service earlier turning historic period 26 are ineligible for Federal student loan and grant programs, including Pell Grants, Federal Work Study, and Stafford Loans. (Parents who want to borrow a PLUS loan do not have to satisfy the registration requirement.) Several states have also made Selective Service registration a prerequisite for land financial aid and for matriculation at public colleges and universities.
Even if you lot disagree with the requirement, you should register. Failure to register can accept a serious negative impact on your power to obtain a driver's license, authorize for financial aid, pursue an education, or obtain employment.

What an unpatriotic terrorist! Y'all don't desire to fight in wars to destroy other sovereign countries? Yous don't desire to believe the lies from the assistants? haha. Expert job man. I wish I didn't sign up. I wish I had a style of recording a phone chat. I want to call them upwards and say...I wish to unregister. I was under eighteen at the time and non legally obligated to attach to contracts(i'g not a lawyer just I call up that's right). Likewise I made an young decision.

My state of affairs was different from yours. At some point, I got a alphabetic character from them about failing to register with the aforementioned threats.
And then I walked over to the nearest photo re-create motorcar, placed my Army ID card on the glass, and sent their alphabetic character back with a photo copy of my Ground forces ID. Never heard from them again.
I seriously doubted they were going to yank my Army scholarship for declining to register for the draft ....
Out of every one hundred men they ship us, x should not even be here. Eighty volition do nothing but serve every bit targets for the enemy. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, upon them depends our success in battle. Only ane, ah the one, he is a real warrior, and he will bring the others back from battle alive.
Duty is the well-nigh sublime discussion in the English language language. Do your duty in all things. Yous tin can non exercise more than your duty. You should never wish to practise less than your duty.
